Humility is grounded in the Spirit of Lord. Matthew 5:8 says, “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” Humility is not a false sense. Humility is reverence for God in a child like manner. Jesus said "expect you come as a dear little child you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven."
Humility requires sincerity and honesty; qualifications that include fearlessness, purity of mind, Spiritual wisdom, charity, self-control, nonviolence, truthfulness, freedom from anger, compassion for others, gentleness, modesty, steady determination, vigor, forgiveness, fortitude, inner cleanliness, freedom from envy, and honor God's will. The Lord exalts the humble this pleases God.
Christ has set us an example of humility
- Confess your sin to God . (Luke 18:9-14)
- God is not complete unless there is also humility before man (James 3:2; James 5:16)
- However, patiently responding to the unjust accusations and actions of others demonstrates our strength of godly character and provides an opportunity to put on humility (1 Peter 3:8-17)
- How purposely and actively do you work on submission to those whom God has placed as authorities in your life (1 Peter 2:18)
- Receive correction and feedback from others graciously. (Proverbs 10:17,12:1)
- Accept lowly place do not exalt oneself. (Proverbs 25:6,7)
- Resist the temptation of being partial to those with status or wealth. (Luke 7:36-39)
- Choose to serve others in servanthood. (Philippians 1:1, 2 Corinthians 4:5, Matthew 23:11)
- Be quick to forgive (Matthew 18: 21-35)
- Cultivate a grateful heart. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
- Purpose in your heart to speak well of others (Ephesians 4:31-32)
- Commit to a lifestyle of daily dying to self and living a life, which pleases God (Luke 9:23).
Prayer
Heavenly Father, cloth me forever with the cloak of humility covering me always in Jesus Name AMEN.
